Randy Houser Still Getting Used to Stardom

|

Randy Houser has certainly had a whirlwind year. Rising from relative obscurity to earn a No.1 hit with his first single, 'Anything Goes,' Randy suddenly found himself living every artist's dream, including two CMA nominations and a successful tour with longtime friend and songwriting partner, Jamey Johnson. But for Randy, that first taste of real success was a long time coming.

"I've been playing music for over 20 years now," Randy says. "I started playing when I was 14 years old. To everyone who has said I was an overnight success ... where have you been the last 20 years?"

Randy, who also had a big follow-up hit with 'Boots On,' fueled in part by the attention-grabbing video, says both he and Jamey have been preparing for this most of their lives. "We're both the same age -- 33,' he tells CMT. "That's about 25 years apiece of us playing guitars and remembering as a kid to play the guitar on up through playing bars, writing songs and learning how to record."

For his first nationwide tour, after years of playing in local bars, Randy says he wouldn't have done it with anyone but Jamey. "Being on tour with your buddy is by design," he says. "We're not the type of guys that want to go out with anybody and not fit the music for the night. We've been doing shows together for so long, we know how to handle the same crowd."

Although he may have had years of experience under his belt, Randy admits he's still adjusting to his new role as a star. "There are a lot of those guys that have had big, big years, and I'm kind of just getting started. All of it's so new right now."

Next up for Randy, after wrapping up the tour this week, is a solo New Year's Eve gig at Atlanta's notorious Wild Bill's. He's also writing songs for his follow-up album, which he plans to record while off the road in 2010.

Also you can buy mp 3 with Randy Houser music. I like it!
