Country music Singers. Moe Bandy

|

Born in Meridian, Mississippi February 12, 1944. His family moved to Texas when he was very young. His first exposure to country music probably was in Texas where his dad had a band called the Mission City Playboys.

About the age of twelve Moe began pickin' guitar around the house. You'll hear country singers point out that they never took a single lesson, and pickers will verify it."A bunch of singers will strum out three little chords and call themselves country pickers." Moe honest about that.

His first record was cut late in 1964 on the Satin label with his band "Bandy and the Mavericks". The music got airplay in South Texas, but failed to reach the national level. Nine years later he hits it big with 'I Just Started Hatin' Cheatin' Songs Today' on GRC Records.

And, of course there are Moe Bandy's Top Songs:

I Just Started Hatin' Cheatin' Songs Today
It Was So Easy to Find an Unhappy Woman
Bandy the Rodeo Clown
Hank Williams You Wrote My Life
Here I Am Drunk Again

Randy Houser Still Getting Used to Stardom

|

Randy Houser has certainly had a whirlwind year. Rising from relative obscurity to earn a No.1 hit with his first single, 'Anything Goes,' Randy suddenly found himself living every artist's dream, including two CMA nominations and a successful tour with longtime friend and songwriting partner, Jamey Johnson. But for Randy, that first taste of real success was a long time coming.

"I've been playing music for over 20 years now," Randy says. "I started playing when I was 14 years old. To everyone who has said I was an overnight success ... where have you been the last 20 years?"

Randy, who also had a big follow-up hit with 'Boots On,' fueled in part by the attention-grabbing video, says both he and Jamey have been preparing for this most of their lives. "We're both the same age -- 33,' he tells CMT. "That's about 25 years apiece of us playing guitars and remembering as a kid to play the guitar on up through playing bars, writing songs and learning how to record."

For his first nationwide tour, after years of playing in local bars, Randy says he wouldn't have done it with anyone but Jamey. "Being on tour with your buddy is by design," he says. "We're not the type of guys that want to go out with anybody and not fit the music for the night. We've been doing shows together for so long, we know how to handle the same crowd."

Although he may have had years of experience under his belt, Randy admits he's still adjusting to his new role as a star. "There are a lot of those guys that have had big, big years, and I'm kind of just getting started. All of it's so new right now."

Next up for Randy, after wrapping up the tour this week, is a solo New Year's Eve gig at Atlanta's notorious Wild Bill's. He's also writing songs for his follow-up album, which he plans to record while off the road in 2010.

Also you can buy mp 3 with Randy Houser music. I like it!

Jake Owen Has Prescription for Slow-Moving Traffic

|

As a Music City resident, Jake Owen knows Nashville traffic can be brutal. But he also knows when to take a break from it. And all it took to get him out of the Christmas-induced congestion and into a nearby Walgreen's Pharmacy was an invitation from store employee (and Jake fan) Amy Barton, who was working there.

Jake was traveling down Hillsboro Road, toward the Mall at Green Hills, one of Nashville's most notoriously clogged traffic spots, on Friday afternoon (his first mistake!) when he let off a little steam to his Twitter followers with a tweet that read (among other choice words): "I could walk faster than this. Merry Christmas."

After Amy suggested he come in to say hi, Jake said he'd be there in three minutes, then did indeed stop in to surprise Amy and her co-workers, even posing for photos before taking off to brave the tangled traffic once more.

"Jake Owen is officially my favorite person in this entire world right now," Amy later tweeted.

George Jones Makes Peace With His Nicknames

|

When you think of George Jones, several things come to mind: classic country hit maker, multiple industry award winner, ex-husband of the late Tammy Wynette, and, of course, those nicknames: 'The Possum' and 'No Show Jones.'

"When you're called 'The Possum' ... it stays with me. There's no way I can ever live it down," George tells The Boot with a laugh. "T. Tommy Cutrer was a disc jockey. Everybody loved him. He was one of the old-timers on the all-night shows along with Ralph Emery, and those two got started calling me 'The Possum.'

"I had an album out with a side view of me with a crew cut. I was very young, and my nose looked more turned up, and I've got little beady eyes so I guess I did look like a possum! So they both laid into me and called me 'Possum,' and it got everywhere. There was no way I could stop that, so (I thought) I'll just have to live with that!"
